Vegan Mozzarella

Do you love mozzarella but would like to avoid animal products or simply try something new? Then this vegan mozzarella is just the thing for you. It's super tasty and can be prepared in just a few simple steps. In this article, you can find out which ingredients you need and how to make this delicious recipe yourself. Ingredients (8 mozzarella balls):

150g cashews

250g unsweetened soy yoghurt 

1-2 tsp salt 

2 tbsp yeast flakes (optional)

3 tbsp starch 

1.5 tbsp agar agar powder

120ml water 

Preparation: 

  1. Soak the cashews in water overnight or boil them in hot water for 10 minutes
  2. Put the cashews, starch, soy yogurt, yeast flakes and salt in a blender and blend until you get a creamy substance
  3. Boil the agar agar powder with a little water, add the cashew cream, mix carefully and boil until you get a thick consistency
  4. Fill a bowl with ice water
  5. Use 2 spoons to form approx. 8 mozzarella balls of the same size and drop them into the water
  6. Leave the balls in the cold water for approx. 10 - 15 minutes until they have a firm consistency and have cooled down
  7. Serve the vegan mozzarella as desired, e.g. as a tomato mozzarella salad
