Cherry dumplings

Grandma's recipes are simply the best! Including these delicious cherry dumplings with a fine quark dough and a juicy cherry filling. Just like original recipe they are then rolled in browned breadcrumbs and cinnamon, fantastically delicious!

Ingredients (15-20 dumplings):

For the dough:

500g low-fat quark

2 medium eggs

150g soft butter

1 pinch of salt

400g flour

For the filling:

Approx. 20 cherries

For the breading:

100g butter

100g panko breadcrumbs

½ tsp cinnamon

Preparation:

  1. Mix and knead all the ingredients for the dough and then divide it into about 15-20 equal pieces 

  2. Now pit the cherries, preferably with a metal tube

  3. Then shape each piece of dough into a round flatbread, place a cherry on top and cover with the dough, seal and shape into a ball

  4. Now cook the dumplings in boiling water for about 10-15 minutes

  5. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a hot pan, add the breadcrumbs and fry until golden brown, then remove from the heat and stir in the cinnamon

  6. Then remove the dumplings from the water and toss them directly through the breadcrumb mixture until they are completely covered

  7. Finally, serve with a sauce of your choice and enjoy!
